A man in Happy Valley, Oregon called his brother to bring him his spare set of keys, after he was unable to find his. The brother arrived with his keys and gave them to his brother, who was visibly intoxicated. They then agreed to race home.
On the drive home, the intoxicated driver ran a red light, striking and killing a motorcyclist. The motorcyclist was driving home from dinner with his wife and friends. His wife was driving her car behind him and saw him hit. She ran to his side and was there as he took his last breath. The driver is currently serving a ten year sentence for first degree manslaughter and driving under the influence of intoxicants.
The family of the deceased motorcyclist is suing the older brother for giving his younger brother the keys to his vehicle, when he was clearly intoxicated. The lawsuit seeks $900,000 in damages.
