Travel Smart: Hot Climates and Sun Exposure

Some of you may have holiday travel plans that include warm weather. As you leave the cool weather of the Northwest, you might be excited to soak up the rays of sunshine in warmer holiday destinations. But remember, failure to take proper precautions when enjoying the sun can really ruin a vacation. Proper care in the sun is particularly crucial for Oregonians who do not have much exposure to the sun in the fall and winter months. Sun exposure that may not cause burns during summer months can certainly have a different effect during the winter. To prevent a sunburn that puts a damper on the vacation fun, don’t forget the sunscreen and hats that protect the face, neck and ears.
