In Brevard County, Florida, a judge and public defender have made national news by getting in a physical altercation in the hall of the courthouse.
The public defender refused to waive his client’s right to a speedy trial, which enraged the judge. After a heated verbal exchange, the judge and public defender went into the hallway, where the judge began hitting the public defender. The fight was stopped by a sheriff’s deputy.
The judge is now on paid temporary leave of absence and is receiving treatment.
