A tragic train accident occurred last week, when a young boy with autism was walking on the tracks near Brooks, Oregon. He was struck and killed by a train headed south. Sadly, another accident very similar to this one occurred on the same date in 2013.
This tragedy reminds us in the community to educate children on the dangers of trains. While teaching children about trains, it is important to tell them how powerful they are, and how long it takes them to stop.
Trains are of interest to children and adults alike. Train travel has a rich history and can be very entertaining. It is important, however, to make sure that the potential dangers of trains are stressed.
