Like all states, all drivers in Portland must carry minimum amounts of auto insurance. The minimum requirements are as follows:

- $50,000 in bodily injury per accident
- $20,000 per crash for property damage to others’ property
- $15,000 in personal injury protection (PIP) per person
- $25,000 in uninsured motorist protection per person
- $50,000 in uninsured motorist protection per accident
Due to the fact that uninsured motorist protection is required in Oregon, your own insurance company will provide coverage if you purchased the appropriate amounts. If you were the only one hurt in a crash, you can claim up to $25,000 from your own insurance company. If you were injured, and other passengers were injured as well, you would have to split $50,000 among the other injured individuals.
