A man died last weekend, from injuries from a bicycle accident. The man was biking on the shoulder of Highway 22. He hit a piece of wood and lost control of his bike. He fell and landed on his face; he was not wearing a helmet.
He was first taken to the emergency room in Stayton, and was then airlifted to Oregon Health & Sciences University, where he later died from his injuries.
As summer approaches, more and more people will be biking for transportation and recreation. Let this tragic story be a reminder that a helmet is a necessity every time.
